  • How not to burn out while working online: simple thoughts from a person who almost burned out himself

Remote work is cool. You sit in comfort, work, coffee, blanket, no one controls. But after a couple of months, you catch yourself on the fact that… You don’t rest at all.

You seem to be “at home”, but your brain is always at work. Tasks, deadlines, the client wrote at 23:17 — and you are already reading. Saturday, Sunday, morning, night – everything is one big “you have to make it”.

And this is what I understood.

First of all, the brain needs a boundary. The working one is here. The personal one is there. Even if you are a freelancer, without a boss and an office.

Secondly, automation is not about laziness, it’s about health. I no longer write the same thing to clients every time, I don’t forget about reminders, I don’t keep a to-do list in my head.

Thirdly, breaks are not a weakness, they are a way to stay alive. I did a task – I went out on the balcony. I walked for 20 minutes – and again in the flow.

And also,  you don’t have to carry everything alone. Asking for help, delegating, saying “no” is also taking care of yourself.

So if you feel that you are burning out, stop. Sit down. And reassemble your system. Online is not a never-ending race. This is a space where you can work like a human. It’s just that sometimes you need to remind yourself of this.
